Eliza Doolittle's singing makes me happppy!

I'm excited to hear Eliza Doolittle at the Brick Lane Takeover next week. Perfect summer songs and the nerdy guy in this video is adorable. Enjoy!

I love gardening

Some friends and I spent our bank holiday clearing our friend Nikki's jungle garden. This is what it looked like before although Julia's already attacked much of it with her power tool cutty thing...

...and here's what it looked like once we'd finished. (I got to use a cutty power tool thing on this side- fun!). Once all the weeds are gone then I think Nik's going to lay turf- hoping to help on that bit too.

Tasty bit of skirt

Someone gave me this skirt, which is kind of witchy.

Definitely witchy slash frumpy librarian...

So I tied up the hem with ribbon to make it wearable. I need to replace the ribbon with elastic to make it more puffy but this'll do in the meantime. Huzzah!!

Ja, I'm posting about floors...

My brother and I have to replace the floors in the flat as they're water-damaged. So we're looking at what to get.

The above are black gloss floorboards apparently, though I think they look blue. Never gonna happen in our little basement flat but I like this pic and its blue hue.

This would be cool if if it wasn't so bumpy. And minus the girly pink.

I like this floor, as posted on House of Turquoise. It's like a beach hut.

None of these floors are really what I'm after though- I think I'd like smart and lucious dark wood with cream walls and non-shiny skirting. Dark-ish, not black. And I'd like little fairy floor people to come and dry all the floors and fit new ones while I'm sleeping one night.

Screenprinter Caro!

I went on a screenprinters course yesterday and this is what I made! It's from a photo I've been hoarding for ages and am totally in love with and now I know how to screenprint I kind of wish I'd added something to make more of a stamp on it. But hey ho, still love it- I printed it in browny olive to make it look antiquey. I'm looking to do a printmaking course starting in September- just need to earn the mullah. Huzzah!

I did the course at Print Club in Dalston- once you know what you're doing (or not I guess) you can join and just use the studio. Nice!

Three things I love today...

...1. This picture. It's spectacular amazing! I borrowed (?!) it from English Muse.

2. Rediscovering how totally delicious camomile tea tastes.

3. Riding to and from work on my bike, though I don't quite look like this! Pic courtesy of an old post on Riding Pretty.

Snnnnoooooooooosecumber

I've been working so much recently and am so, so tired tonight that I reckon I'll be in bed by 9pm. Rock n roll. The above is is a room at the High Road House in Chiswick, details at the wonderful i-escape. It looks heaven-like to me!

I like this bed. I'd paint it cream if it were mine but its' shape is luscious.

I love the ceiling in this room, courtesy of Apartment Therapy!

This one's rather grand. Don't think it looks very comfortable but hey ho. It's in the new Town Hall hotel in Bethnal Green, which is just round the corner from my flat.

All things maps

Mathew Cusick makes collages with maps. There's a whole series of them on his website but I'm including this one because I imagine that it would look grand in a big loft space. Plus I think my brother might like it.
I just discovered this recently- someone called Anatoly Zenkov has made a computer programme that maps your computer mouse movements. And this can be the result. The black spots are where the mouse has been resting and then the other parts are the mouse tracks. It's great huh?
Jason LeFerra makes wildlife collages with maps. Which I find pretty cool. His Etsy shop is here.

Art that makes me skippy

A close up of one of Hide n Seek's prints on Folksy. I think I like it because it's like a Tim Burton film but in print. If that makes sense?!
Rob Ryan's papercuts literally makes my insides sing. This is one of my favourites, and usually I despise stuff with hearts of it. But oh, it's so beautiful!

This is by Al Heighton. I like its yellowness.

The ever brilliant blog Print & Pattern posted this gorgeous print by Delphine Lebourgeois. I love it!

Hello YELLOW

I've been watching the election and Nick Clegg has me hopeful. So I thought I'd put up some yellow things in support. To start here's a yellow box fish- I saw some when I went diving in Australia ages ago and they're so cute and funny looking.

My friend Henry had a beatle like this when we were in 6th form. It's bubble-sounding engine noise was fantastic.

I've got a print of this on my wall- I love it. You'll have to ignore the blueness- because of the amount of sand, I'm gonna interpret the yellow overwhelming the blue. Oh yeah!

I have this fabric in bright yellow waiting to be turned into something delicious. This version only has a little yellow on it but it counts nonetheless!
I think this is pretty. I imagine it to be fairly petite and intricate and therefore quite lovely. :)

New Vintage Pics

I adore this photo by Tim Irving. It's of Liverpool and you can buy it from his folksy shop here along with similar pics like this cool one of cyclists.

Cassia Beck takes pics in a similarly gorgeous styley though her shots are more domestic-orientated (?- that sounds absurd but if you have a look through I think you'll know what I mean).

Fabulous Flowers

Gorgeous spring flowers make me skippy! (no idea why this is underlined...)

I took these with my camerama. In the park near my flat. (Save for the tulips which I grew.)
